连接: Autism Support Group

什么是连接:
College 学生 strive to find affinity with themselves (identity), their peers (community), and their University (academics). 连接 was created to help foster these relationships and address the unique experiences and challenges of 十大菠菜软件 学生 自闭症. 连接 provides a safe space and learning tools to support student success at 十大菠菜软件 and beyond.

使命:
To support the development of academic achievement and personal success for 十大菠菜软件 学生 自闭症. Creating a campus culture centered on awareness, acceptance, and support through cross-campus collaboration and training.

愿景:
Through self expression, academic skill building, and community engagement 十大菠菜软件 学生 自闭症 will gain independence, self-awareness, and community.

连接服务:

Services are targeted to support the 需要 of 学生 within a group setting while also providing the opportunity for 学生 to independently apply the information and strategies learned:

  • Weekly Academic and Life Skills Group Sessions (Zoom)
    • Identify area of student 需要
    • Apply researched based strategies
    • Create and review academic/personal goals

  • Weekly Community Outings (连接 Friday’s)
    • Attend AEC sponsored social events
    • Engage with other 连接 members
    • Explore local community while practicing social skills
  • Disability Management Counseling:
    • 访问1:1 AEC 自闭症的辅导员
    • Assistance with identifying academic accommodations, communication 需要, and other 校园资源
  • Monthly Wellness Support Meeting in Collaboration with CAPS
    • Group setting engagement faciliated by CAPS psychologist and AEC 自闭症的辅导员
    • Identify wellness challenges and support strategies

*连接 服务是免费的. Extracurricular activities/outtings are voluntary and expenses must be paid by the 学生.

 

如何加入连接:
Students who are interested in joining 连接 must first register with the AEC. Once the AEC application and appropriate disability documentation have been submitted, AEC will email the student (at the email address provided in the application) with information about scheduling their “Intake Appointment.”

During the intake appointment the student and counselor fully engage in the interactive process and discuss eligibility, limitations, and reasonable and appropriate accommodations.  This is also the opportunity for the student and counselor to discuss interest in 连接 and determine if 连接 is the appropriate resource to support the student 需要.

Students may also reach out to the AEC to inquire general information about 连接 before deciding to register with the AEC.
